Ladies and gentlemen
Mental disorders have long been an issue both internationally and in Indonesia. Bali as an international tourist destination is also not free from social problems in the community, including mental disorders.
According to the Household Survey of Mental Health (SKJRT) on people in 11 cities in Indonesia in 1995, the prevalence of mental health problems was 185 per 1000 adult population or at least one in four people have mental disorders and needs mental health care.
Bali with a population of 4 million is estimated there are 8000 people with severe mental disorders are scattered throughout Bali. This number could be increased because many of the people with mental disorders are not recorded due to either social economics, geography or because of other social problems.
